All core behaviors (e.g. receipt tracking, report generation) are available for free as part of the main app. The paid version is available as a monthly or annual subscription and offers the following benefits over the free version:

The paid version supports automatic backups by syncing to our servers (Amazon).
The paid version automatically processes exchange rate conversions
The paid version allows you to automatically break down prices by category/payment method in your reports
The paid version allows you to edit/customize the PDF footer
