#RECOVERY WITH ZIP (.db File)
The .db file inside their ZIP only contains text data — receipt names, amounts, taxes, reports, distances.
Please note: Images are not stored in it, so photo attachments cannot be recovered.
If the app is still installed and the receipt data is intact, just missing images
— There's nothing we can do to restore them.
You would need to locate the original receipt photos and manually reattach them to each receipt entry.
If the app is no longer installed, but they have the ZIP file, they can restore their text data manually by following the steps below:
1. Keep the ZIP somewhere safe (Don't Lose It!)
2. Install the Smart Receipts app (Don't launch the app!)
3. Launch the Files app on your device (Not the Smart Receipts app). Go to the Smart Receipts folder
4. Locate and rename receipts.db there to receipts_old.db
5. Move the ZIP into the Smart Receipts folder and unzip it
6. Rename the extracted .db file to receipts.db
7. Launch our app — your data should appear
Finally, you can export everything to CSV format via Generate a Report if it's helpful.
