Bulk Importing Expense Data

How to bulk import statements with CSV or PDF files

Note: Bulk import is only available in the MAX subscription plan.

Bulk import allows you to add multiple expenses to Smart Receipts from a single file, such as a collection of images, a CSV spreadsheet, or a PDF statement.

To import multiple expenses at the same time, go to the Receipts tab:

Tap the "+" button and select Import multiple:

Importing images

We support PNG, JPG, and JPEG files for bulk import.

Importing CSV files

We support importing expenses from CSV files containing one row per expense.

Tip: you can save your XLS or XLSX file as CSV using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

The list of supported CSV columns is available in the app under ≡ menu → Settings → Customize CSV columns. Tap the + button to view additional supported columns.

Importing PDF files

We support PDF files for bulk import.

If the import does not work as expected, please verify that your file is easily readable and contains valid data. If the issue persists, contact Support and attach the file you are trying to import.

Tip: you can generate a PDF file in most applications via the Print menu.
